Welcome to the 4th Annual NYC Yarn Crawl!

We are sorry this took awhile to get posted.  Truth is that early September is a very hectic time in the yarn world, and there were a lot of last minute changes and updates that we felt we needed to include.  Just yesterday, another sponsor came on board and just two days ago we discovered that Yarntopia (on the Upper West Side) is closing after 6 years in business.  (We wish owner, Dona, a great deal of happy success in her new store in Philadelphia.)

Anyway, here we are now  on "Countdown” for the Fourth   Annual NYC Yarn Crawl, which is  scheduled for October 6, 7 and 8, 2012.  This year we are going back to our Columbus Day Weekend Tradition.    Three solid days of yarn crawling - scheduled as you please.  Eleven  stores are with us, including a new  one in Brooklyn.   We sure hope you'll be joining us.  Bring your friends, your wish list and most importantly, bring your love of the yarn --- and the community.  We look forward to seeing all of you! 

Oh, one more thing! If you wish to go to the NY State Sheep and Wool Fair in Rhinebeck this year, we are organizing a bus trip for October 20, 2012.  We will be departing from the Upper West side and there will be lots of raffles, treats and a surprise or two on board.                               You are New to a Yarn Crawl


A “yarn crawl” is a multiple day event for yarn and fiber loving people that connects them to local independent yarn (and related craft) stores  within a specific area or city.  Yarn crawls are sponsored by local retailers and by yarn companies that want you to know about their terrific products.  By identifying the whereabouts of every participating store, the producer of the yarn crawl provides participants (and their  fellow enthusiasts and friends)  with the means to develop a self guided itinerary for a weekend of excitement and exploration.  Every participating store on the crawl is provided with a large raffle basket that is filled with full sized products from the sponsor companies.  Everyone is eligible to enter the Raffle.  There is never a charge to go on a crawl, and  you go on your own time frame and at your own speed.  Every participant  on a yarn crawl is entitled to one FREE RAFFLE ticket from each store they visit - one raffle ticket per store over the course of the entire weekend.  During the course of the weekend, each store offers customers their own  enticing  promotions and/or special offerings unique to the event.    In addition, our yarn crawls organize a  scavenger hunt in which all the stores participate.  We always have a neat prize (or prizes) for the winner of the scavenger hunt and you can read about them on our NYC Yarn Crawl Diary.
